Hummer

Though, in appearance, the Hummer car rental seems much bulkier than your average sport utility vehicle, the Jeep was actually the inspiration for the rugged vehicle. One of the most popular SUV's of all time, the Jeep was becoming so multi-faceted that the manufacturer decided to break the company in to two different divisions, once based on consumer driving and a second based on government products.

Now known as AM General, that government division was hired by the United States Army in the early 1970's to create a vehicle to use in the military during combat. The sport utility vehicle was later named a High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) which became more commonly known as the Humvee. Because the Humvee was so popular and capable in the military, AM General decided to release a model more practical for consumers and everyday use.

The very first exotic car rental from Hummer was released in 1992 and was called the H1. The company has sense released several new Hummer models, all of which feature the same large, boxy, tank-like design. Featuring strong, powerful engines, a roomy interior and larger-than-life features that make driving off road a piece of cake, the luxury car rental has become a sign of wealth, power and strength. And, while high gas prices discouraged sales for a few years, the company has found that those who value this kind of reputation are still willing to shell out the big bucks for the vehicle and its fuel.
